BSA Board Elections

What’s the big whoop about being on the Board?
Standing for election for the BSA Board is a great opportunity to have an impact on campus. It also gives you skills that will benefit you in the future.

The experience will help you develop practical skills in planning, management, negotiation and public speaking. Board training is part of the package and if you take on one of the major roles within the Board, there is an honorarium to help compensate for the increased time commitment.

Getting Nominated
Elections are held in September for positions for the following year and a By-Election is held each March to fill any vacant positions. Students must be a BSA member to nominate or be nominated for the Board. Any current La Trobe Bendigo student can vote in the elections.

Grab a nomination form from the BSA Info Desk and lodge it within the nomination period to officially throw your hat into the ring.

Roles and Responsibilities
The La Trobe Student Leadership Conference will be held between 16-19 January 2018 in Bundoora. All Board Directors are expected to attend as this forms basic training for the role. Board meetings are held monthly. Finance and Resources committee meetings are also held monthly but only involve committee members.

Executive positions are elected from within the Board at the first official Board meeting of the year. Executive roles include:
President  |  Vice President  |  Finance & Resources Chair  |  Equal Opportunity Officer  |  Student Engagement Officer
