Students aren't immune to legal issues and legal advice is not normally discounted just because you're on a tight budget. That's why the BSA have partnered with the Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre (LCCLC) to provide a free student legal service at the Bendigo campus of La Trobe University each Tuesday of semester.
What can I seek advice about?
The service offers free and confidential advice from qualified and experienced lawyers on things like:
• Employment Rights
• Family Violence
• Consumer Matters
• Tenancy Issues
• Welfare Rights
• Motor Vehicle Accidents
Do you provide a JP Service?
Yes we do. We can certify legal documents like working with children checks, police checks and statutory declarations.
What can't I seek advice about?
We can't offer you advice if there's a conflict of interest with another person that we are already representing. We will always conduct a conflict of interest check to make sure this is not the case before continuing with a consultation.
La Trobe offer us facilities and the opportunity to run this service on campus so we don't offer advice to students who have grievances with the University itself.
Can LCCLC represent me?
Depending on the type of case, we may be able to offer you free representation over and above the advice we give. We will let you know in your consultation whether this is possible or not.
What if I need advice on a day the lawyer is not in?
The Loddon Campaspe Community Legal Centre operates from offices in Bendigo 5 days per week. You can call us and make an appointment any time during office hours. You can elect to see them face to face or simply get advice over the phone.
